The Foundation for Southeast Texas released applications Wednesday for the second round of funding to assist established relief organizations through the Golden Pass Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund. Nonprofits and government organizations in Orange, Jefferson and Hardin counties are encouraged to apply for funding to support hurricane recovery and mitigation efforts before the May 15 deadline.
Projects providing support in disaster mitigation infrastructure, school materials reimbursement, first responder disaster assistance (including non-official responders), hurricane damaged housing rehabilitation and public employee disaster assistance will be considered for funding. Priority will be given to projects directly benefitting Port Arthur and Sabine Pass.
“We are excited to work with great local organizations as our community continues to recover from Hurricane Harvey. Our first round of funding benefitted some really impactful programs, and we are looking forward to continuing that progress we have made together,” Mellie Bevilacqua, executive director of the Foundation for Southeast Texas, said.
Applications will be considered for the second funding cycle administered by the Foundation for Southeast Texas from the $320,000 remaining in the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund, which Golden Pass Products established in September. The organization provided nearly $1.2 million to recipients during the first round of funding in December. Funding requests will be reviewed by the foundation and advised by representatives from Jefferson County, the City of Port Arthur and Golden Pass. The foundation expects to announce funding awards in early June.
“After Harvey, our company and employees came together to help rebuild the community we call home,” Golden Pass LNG Vice President of Human Resources and Public Affairs Robert Bilnoski said. “Through the fund, we have been able to partner with some incredible organizations, and I’m looking forward to building on our progress with this second round of funding.”
